DMS 201 Professional Growth and Development II (Spring 2026)
Course Description: This course advances students' skills across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. Key topics include medical ethics, laboratory accreditation, credentialing and professional organizations, the importance of maintenance of certification (MOC) and case presentation.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify major sonography credentialing organizations such as the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and explain the requirements for obtaining and maintaining certification.
- Identify major sonography credentialing organizations such as the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the requirements for obtaining and maintaining certification.
- Describe medical legal terms and how they relate to medical malpractice
- Identify major sonography credentialing organizations such as the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and articulate the requirements for obtaining and maintaining certification.
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive pathology case study presentation derived from a current clinical site.
- List the professional organization related to sonography and how to utilize their online resources for professional development
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive pathology case study presentation derived from a current clinical site experience, demonstrating the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application.
- Summarize recent technological and methodological advances in the field of sonography, and assess their impact on clinical practice
- Describe and demonstrate what makes a good clinical instructor.
